What is the life expectancy of the lamps?

The EB-Z8000 series are Epson's first dual lamp projectors. They use two high wattage lamps (330W). The dual lamp system eliminates the risk of interrupting operation even if one lamp fails as the operation can continue with the other lamp. The EB-Z8000 series always operates in dual lamp mode.

Just like any light bulb, projector bulbs have an expected operating time, called lamp life. This value is expressed in hours and represents the number of hours before the lamp is at half its original brightness. The EB-Z8000 series' target is to provide a longer lasting lamp by ensuring light retention and survival rate are optimised. Each lamp can now achieve 3500h in eco mode.

What is the life expectancy of the filter?

Firstly, the products are very easy to maintain. The filter and lamps are easily accessible and replaceable without any tool even if the projector is mounted on the ceiling. In addition Epson EasyEMP Monitor allows the remote monitoring over an IP network of the projector and can give advanced warning of temperature rise, due to blocked filters or of the lamp nearing the end of its life.

The newly-developed, large area pleated electrostatic filter enables operation for up to 10,000 hours before it requires cleaning or replacement in normal conditions. (This is data based on Epson's in-house results in a normal office environment with up to 25°C operation and amount of floating dust: in the 0.04-0.2 mg/m3 range.)

The surface area is drastically expanded by using a pleated shape and this achieves the long operating period, equalling the performance of competitor models. In addition, the EB-Z8000 series can detect a clogging filter and notify, using Epson EasyMP, of the need for a replacement. The EB-Z8000 series also has a one-way cooling system, like the EB-G5000 series, with each intake and exhaust vent positioned in one place on the side to prevent dust-related problems and make replacement easier.
